This is one incident that has happened
in my life quite recently. One day after
my college I thought of visiting my senior. She had called me over to her hostel
a few days back, as she had brought me some sweets from her native. I went over
to her hostel (Crystal Rocks) and ate almost all the sweets she had bought for
me; giving her no space to speak while I ate and spoke about random stuffs that
came into my mind.
While I was talking to her non-stop;
heavens had mercy on her and it started to drizzle. It was then I remembered
about the certificate course class I had to attend. I bid her bye, opened my
umbrella and started walking back to the campus. It started to pour heavily by then.
On the way to the campus from the hostel there is a transformer.
When I reached near the transformer, I
saw a beautiful girl standing there, getting wet by the rain, holding her ‘Patiala’
and looking towards skies as if she was begging the heavens to stop the rain. Few
strands of her hair were falling over her face and I could see water droplets
falling from those strands to her beautiful angelic face. I was stuck by her
beauty and I stood there gazing at her, forgetting all about my class. She
looked so beautiful, that I am not sure if the entire vocabulary I have, would be of
any help to describe her.
All of a sudden she stopped begging
the heavens to see a stranger staring at her. She caught me unawares. I was
caught in a fix as she had caught me starring at her shamelessly. I asked her
in a stammering manner if she was a Christite for which she replied she was. I offered
to take her to the campus along with me. But she was on her way back to the
hostel. Forgetting all about the certificate course I offered to drop her to
her hostel.
She walked with me, under my umbrella
and we walked a few steps. That was when I remembered that I had bunked enough
number of classes and that missing one more could end me up having to
discontinue the course. So I offered her my umbrella and told her to return it to me the next day. I asked her class to see if she was my senior; but
the worst part was that I forgot to ask her name. I gave her my umbrella and
walked back to the campus all drenched.
Next day I put on my best clothes, all
ready to impress her. But she didn’t come to return my umbrella. Thanks to my
memory, I knew how I felt when I saw her but I had forgotten her face. Days rolled
to months. One day when I was walking with my friend I saw her and recognized
her. But I am not sure if she did. Somehow I couldn’t gather my guts to go and
talk to her. I haven’t got my umbrella back till now. Whenever it rains, I
never forget to curse under my breath for not having taken her number when i
had a chance.
Bro, was that the only thing You swore?... I still love to laugh at you when it rains...
